Weekend of 7/25-7/27 in Team Z

VOTE ON OUR POLL PLEASE: https://groups.yahoo.com/groups/TeamZ/polls/open

Welcome new Z’s starting this weekend! This e-mail may not make much sense to you now – but it definitely will after your kickoff! So hang tight on attending anything until after your kickoff, then get in the game. We are psyched to have you!

Everyone – We’ve made a few tactical changes – we’ve moved the hash down the road from Arlington Oaks so we don’t interfere with a large kickoff meeting. And we are now leveraging available space at American U for our bike fit and selection clinic and swim technique clinic (new Z’s only).

In this e-mail:
Saturday group run – HASH! – 9:00 AM – Outback Steakhouse, Arlington, VA
Saturday swim equipment clinic – 9:00 AM – The Sport Fair, Falls Church, VA
Saturday Bike Fit and Selection Clinic – 2:00 PM – American University, NW WDC
Saturday swim technique clinic – 3:00 PM – New Z’s Only – American University, NW WDC
Sunday group ride – Time Trial – 8:00 AM – Prince William Forest, Triangle, VA

The all hands weekend 7/19-7/20

Posting this after the fact 🙁   so it is documented. What a weekend!!!!

THE ALL HANDS WEEKEND…

NOTE THAT WE CHANGED THE RUN LOCATION TO A PAVILION AT NEEDWOOD PARK. Miscommunication. Ed, Alexis, and I had a “who’s on first” conversation yesterday that was a result of my typo 6 months ago. We are running from a pavilion in Needwood Park (the opposite end of Rock Creek Park as Pierce Mill). We are not at Carderock. Totally my fault – kick me in the shins next time you see me.

What is the “all hands” weekend?
The all hands weekend is a team Z tradition. It’s the weekend of our peak in our training plans, and the weekend when our Iron folks have to ride 120 miles and run 20. These distances are a true physical and mental challenge and the time when folks going “long” benefit from the spirit and camaraderie of the team the most. So what does team Z do to support these folks? Why we grill of course! What else would Team Z do?! We will be grilling at both the ride and the run to encourage folks to hang out. And hang out you should – there is no better feeling than coming back from a colossal workout to 100 cheering teammates!

Week of 7/7/14 in Team Z DC/MD

It’s mega race weekend! Two race weekends (Musselman and Colonial Beach) for the price of one. Sweet! Our local weekend group workout is a Saturday brick. Why not consider joining us in Colonial Beach on Sunday? Maybe do a relay or just come down to support the team? It’s just a thought.

Week of 7/7/14 in Team Z West

NO BOOTCAMPS THIS WEEK BECAUSE 90% OF THE TEAM IS TAPERING. IMMT get your strength done on your own.

Was awesome to see 70+ riders yesterday – and lots of folks at the quarry swim. It’s fun to have so much energy in our rides! Keep it up! Now we look forward to our “A” races… this week it’s important to do ONLY what’s on the training plan. It will feel light and you will have extra energy, that’s the point! So don’t do anything silly like adding extra work. Having said that the work that we do – even through it’s less – is still important, so get it in! Do exactly what your plan says, no more and no less.

Eat right, hydrate now, make good choices.

Buy NOW, buy accurately, buy strong.

I am REALLY jazzed for next weekend. We have a TON of people competing, lots of people staying up for extra days, it’s going to be a blast. This is a really well run, customer focused event in a beautiful area. Yep, it’s a bit of a drive, but it’s WELL WORTH IT! Where else can you participate in a tricycle / big wheel race, a sprint, a half iron, get a finisher’s medal made from bike parts, and go wine tasting all in the same weekend? If you are considering coming up to spectate please come- and bring the fam and the dog. The park has lots to do for both, trust me, both the fam AND the dog will need a BATH by the end of the day. There are still places to stay, you might just have to do a little digging- a few years back I reserved a spot at Cheerful Valley Campground like three days before.
