Ice, Ice Baby… Important Changes to January 10 Group Ride

Okay folks, here’s the deal. Today is beautiful outside. In fact, it’s about 15 degrees warmer today than at this time yesterday. However, with tonight’s temps forecast to be around 10 degrees and a high of 25 degrees for Saturday, the odds of refreezing/black ice potentially becomes a major safety issue. Snow is fine. Ice is not.

I AM CANCELING THE SATURDAY WAKEFIELD RIDE. INSTEAD, WE WILL MOVE INDOORS AND OFFER A GROUP SPIN AT THE ENDURANCE ATHLETE CENTER IN FALLS CHURCH, VA

Please vote on the group spin poll:

What: Team Z Group Spin

When: Saturday, 9:30 AM
Where:  Endurance Athlete Center!
Address: 510 West Annandale Road, Falls Church, VA
Google Map: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=510+West+Annandale+Road,+Falls+Church,+VA&aq=&sll=38.852542,-77.181702&sspn=1.082296,2.741089&ie=UTF8&hq=&hnear=510+W+Annandale+Rd,+Falls+Church,+Virginia+22046&ll=38.880961,-77.173698&spn=0.00887,0.021415&z=16

I will provide the entertainment. Here are your options:

1) Coach Alexis recreates the Chaos in Cozumel and dances to the hits in nothing but a speedo and a massive sombrero.

2) A feature movie.

And the movie wins by a landslide….so relieved.

Afterwards, we can do an impromptu happy hour at Smash Burgers which is right next door. Yummy!

You could opt to stay at home and spin on your own….alone…..bored….sad……OR you could pack the bike and trainer, schlep over to Falls Church and do a Team Z group spin.  FUN… ENTERTAINING…. SOCIAL….NOT BORING….HAPPY….. NOT SAD AND LONELY.

Tough choice I know.

What else to bring: water & food (if you need it a power bar, gel, etc.) and a towel.

***IF YOU WANT TO SPIN BUT DON’T YET OWN A TRAINER, PLEASE EMAIL ME ASAP. I HAVE TWO EXTRA TRAINERS.  IF WE NEED MORE TRAINERS, THIS CAN ALSO BE ARRANGED.***

***Also, I ‘m in need of stereo speakers and possibly a receiver. Please let me know if you have a pair I can borrow for a few hours. ***

Here is your time frame:

8:45 AM- Start arriving and begin setting up your trainer and bike. Please try to arrive before 9:00 AM as it can get crazy.

9:30 AM-start of group spin and movie

11:30 AM- end of group spin and movie. Head over to Smash Burger for lunch.

***Notes on spins/rides/swims:  Yes the winter focus is on training for run races – we don’t have much of a choice in the matter.  However , we still train you for these races like you are triathletes.  Meaning – the swims, bikes, boot camps….this is all part of your training plans.  Call it cross training – call it whatever you like.  The bottom line is that these are PART of your training plans and not intended to be optional.   If you were “only” runners – we’d have you running more times per week.   Get in those swims and bike rides  – they will help you build your fitness toward taper and race periods!  ***

Buy NOW, buy accurately, buy strong.

I am REALLY jazzed for next weekend. We have a TON of people competing, lots of people staying up for extra days, it’s going to be a blast. This is a really well run, customer focused event in a beautiful area. Yep, it’s a bit of a drive, but it’s WELL WORTH IT! Where else can you participate in a tricycle / big wheel race, a sprint, a half iron, get a finisher’s medal made from bike parts, and go wine tasting all in the same weekend? If you are considering coming up to spectate please come- and bring the fam and the dog. The park has lots to do for both, trust me, both the fam AND the dog will need a BATH by the end of the day. There are still places to stay, you might just have to do a little digging- a few years back I reserved a spot at Cheerful Valley Campground like three days before. Week of 6/16 in TEAM Z WEST

THIS POST IS ABOUT THE WEEK OF 6/16!

RP OFFLINE FOR A FEW DAYS. I’m sending this out a little early, I’ll be offline for most of next week when baby #2 is born (scheduled for Monday). Honestly, I may be checking e-mail now and then even during that time… but my attention will be divided to say the least. So please reach out today or tomorrow if you have any needs or questions. Otherwise, I’ll catch up with you Thursday or Friday of next week. Remember – I’m available by cell today and tomorrow too – (703) 597-2447. Sometimes questions are easier with a quick call.

If they are general questions not specific to the west – you could also hit up A-frame (speedy) (alexis). Ed is offline to Williamsburg then a quick turnaround to Mont Tremblant, so he is slammed as well.

New Z’s… don’t let this be an excuse not to come to practices next week!! Our workout leaders love the energy of well-attended workouts, and they’re looking forward to working with you!

In this email:

1. Important notes for the week
2. Overview of Team Z West events for the week
3. Overview of clinics offered this week
