The Columbia International Distance Triathlon will be the second time back to this event for us after many years. The plan is a trailer event, though the venue is not super supportive (not tons of room). We’ll have some support there for sure. This is a very hard Olympic Distance event (very very very hilly). It is a very crowded course (2,000 + people) for an olympic. It is also a very fast field. Test yourself against this race if you have some experience – but likely not a great first timer event. You have to rack your bike on Saturday (mandatory) and the race is on Sunday. Under 70.3 people – you will skip your workouts for this weekend if you race Columbia. 70.3 people have between a 60-80 mile ride and 16 mile run this weekend as part of your training. Ironman MTB people – you all have a 90 mile ride and 14 mile run this weekend. Keep that in mind. I would not skip the ride under any circumstance. Skipping the run to race Columbia is ok – but your call.
