The Week of March 30, 2015

By: Amanda H

Did you know that all of you current Zers potentially just made 40+ new friends? I kid you not. That’s how many new Zers and alumni joined Team Z this past weekend. Woo hoo! Welcome New Zers and welcome back Team Z alumni! It’s awesome to have you all on the team.  If you’re new to the team or are an alumni but have been away for a while, expect an email or phone call from your mentor sometime this week.

I want to thank all of you who attended last week’s joint happy hour at the Cheesecake Factory at Tysons Galleria. For the new Zers, each chapter normally does its own happy hour during a recovery week. We decided to combine the happy hours into one mega happy hour. Coach Ed said that he counted 70 Zers there at one time or another. 70 ZERS!! Wow! It was so good to meet some new Zers and get to reconnect with Zers who I hadn’t seen in a while. Both Ed and I have gotten lots of positive comments about the happy hour and many want to know when we can do it again. If you missed this happy hour, don’t worry. We’ll schedule more of these later in the year. In the meantime, make an effort to attend the Arlington, West, or MDC happy hours when they come up.

The Weekend of March 27, 2015

End of the month – there is a quota you have to meet each month for run/ride workouts, so if you haven’t hit your quota each month, make sure you get to the workouts! OK I’m lying about the quota, but maybe setting one for yourself isn’t such a bad idea!

Race Report: Townebank 8k

By: Amanda H

Following is a guest post by Team Zer, Lisa C., who recently completed her first 8k in Virginia Beach, the Shamrock Townebank 8k.  Congratulations!

We’ve all heard the phrase “Always a bridesmaid, never a bride.”  That was me and running and triathlon.  I did support for countless marathons/Ironmen over many years, including Marine Corps Marathon; Shamrock Marathon; the Richmond, Boston, and Philadelphia marathons; and Ironman Lake Placid!  So maybe that’s why this finish and PR meant so much to me.
