1 – Team Z Christmas Eve Monuments Run
Mark and Mary are hosting their annual Xmas Eve Monuments Run. This will be the 7th time we’ve done this and it’s been a Team Z tradition nearly as long. All are welcome – your Mom in town for the holidays, the kids who you’re letting stay up to see in Xmas Day, your dog who needs to run off some steam, the friends you run with on the weekends. We’ll have cue sheets for a 2-4 mile run/walk and we’ll all share in some food and drink afterwards.
The Deets:
- What: Seventh annual run/walk around the monuments on the Mall on Christmas Eve
- Bring: Hot chocolate or cookies or something nice to share with everyone. This is National Park land, so if you spike your drink, keep it discreet.
- When: Meet at 11pm, Christmas Eve (Friday, December 24th). Run starts at 11:15pm
- Where: Steps of the Lincoln Memorial
- Parking: Free and easy on Ohio Drive
The Mall at night is a truly magical place and what better way to celebrate doing what we love? Running and eating! See you there!
Mary & Mark (Mark and Mary are Team Zrs)

Pre-orders can me made until end of January. If we get these in before Feb 1, the estimated delivery by early april. We will race on April 30 with the Westfield’s Pool Sprint. Lets get that order in now. If you don’t make the cut, you will not have a jersey or shorts until probably around June.

7 – Quarterly Swim Renewal Reminder
If you swim with us on our master swim team (called, L4 Masters Swimming…or “Lane 4” Masters Swimming)….
Those of you on quarterly option – your pass will auto-renew on January 1 for the Jan – March 2017 quarter.
Remember, we are supposed to provide our registrar Lindsay two-weeks advance notice if you do not wish to renew to avoid an administrative fee. Obviously, this reminder doesn’t quite allow the two week deadline for this next period. But if you do not plan on continuing your first quarter 2017 pass, please let Lindsay know now via email at lindsay.viellieu@gmail.com
If you would like to start swimming with us in January, please see the guidance in number 8 below.

9 – Holiday Marathon Swim Opportunity – let me know if you have questions about this please
BILLY ADAMS CHALLENGE WORKOUT
The note below is from Frank Marcinkowski – one of the small crew that manages L4 Masters. The event described is something that swim teams have executed for many many years…definitely a tradition. I remember doing 90 100’s and thinking it was massive. So it creeps up on you – the workout below will = greater than 6.5 miles.
Obviously this is not a straight swim, and some people will go farther than others. Maybe you are new to freestyle and just want the challenge…see how many you can do before you call it a day. 15? 35? 90? The point is that this will be unique environment where there will be others chasing the similar goal.
From Frank, below
“We are pleased to announce that we have arranged for Lane 4’s special insanity workout to occur at AU on New Year’s Eve this year!
Starting at 1:00 PM (please be ready to start around 12:45), those of you who accept this special marathon workout challenge will embark on 117 x 100 yards. We chose 117 repititions because we are celebrating the start of a new year, as opposed to reminiscing over 2016.
For anyone who completes this workout, Frank (L4 management) will ask L4 Coaches to let you drop off 200 – 300 yards at your first workout in 2017!!

10 – Swim lessons for underprivileged children – Instructors/adult oversight needed
Marymount University Swim Coach is named Mike Clark. Mike has run in our USMS/Nova Swimming circles for decades and you should trust that you are in a safe and professional charity environment. I guess I’m just saying I’d vouch for him.
Mike and Marymount University run a program to teach swimming lessons to children of low income families. The program runs every Saturday night from 5-7pm. All the instructors are volunteers. Marymount Swim Team, Clark swim club (Mike Clark’s private youth swim program), and local high school swimmers participate.
If any team z members want to help out, Mike and his volunteer staff would love to have some adult volunteer instructors.
Email me if you would like to help. CoachEd@TriTeamZ.com

11 – Shamrock Group Rental Houses – respond if you would like to get in a team house.
Our “housing coordinator” (Kim Larson Hawksworth) will organize a couple Shamrock houses if people are interested. If you would like to be included in a Team Z house for Shamrock 8k, 13.1, or 26.2…..
Please email klarson125@hotmail.com. (NOT COACH ED)
Note that Kim will be traveling Dec. 15 – 22, so if you don’t hear right back from her, that’s why.
