This Swim Event and Camping/Team Hang out has registration up until the race start on Saturday.

EVERYONE CAN COME TO THIS, RACING OR NOT…TRAINING OR NOT.

With race season in full swing, it’s rare to get to do a swim, bike or run on a training week in one location. Well here’s your chance. Luray Fest gives you an opportunity to do an open water swim in a safe environment. This is great for those of you who have little open water swim experience. In addition, you can do your bike or run on the Luray International race course.

Afterwards, you can kick your feet up, chillax and have a cold beverage and lunch with all your awesome Z friends. So what is the best part of coming to Luray Fest? You get to hang out with me, Coach Alexis! You know”¦ The “fun” coach. Coach Ed is fun too, but I’m fun like a Jack Russell Terrier. If that doesn’t convince you to join us in Luray, you’re hopeless.

Rough Plan for Food/Picnic

I (Alexis) will be in Luray by Friday afternoon. No plans to eat as a team Friday night, but if you’re in town, please gather up at the park/camp ground and get some dinner as a group.

Saturday morning:   I will have coffee/hot chocolate/OJ and some fruit if you want something before the swim.

The Saturday picnic Lunch:   Will be a combination of things. I will bring chips, dessert, and probably fried chicken or subs plus the usual beer and soda. In addition, there is a local BBQ joint that has gotten rave reviews. I plan to order freshly made pork bbq, cole slaw, potato salad etc.to supplement what I’m bringing. It should be awesome!

Training on the  Run and Bike Course:

Luray is a beautiful venue and you should take advantage of getting a preview of the International distance bike and run course, especially if you’ll be joining us in August for the Luray International and Sprint races. Although both the run and the ride are unsupported, you will sign in and out like you normally do and we will provide cue sheets. The bike and run course rock! Jump on it!

=================================================================
Brick Workout – Watching your gear in general

This is a very safe park.  There will likely be someone at or near our Lyon’s Shelter the entire day.  However – we can’t promise that.  So if you leave gear laying around please understand it is your responsibility.

I would not expect anything to happen to it, honestly.  But – that will be your risk. Otherwise plan to lock your bike at the shelter on in/on your car.

Having said that – you should have your gear set up and ready to roll if you are doing a brick.  Don’t dilly dally when you finish the swim.  Use this as an opportunity to do a transition at your car and get out there on the roads.

=================================================================
Camping

Camping is free and we have the boy scout camp ground reserved.  Please invite guests if you like.  The park is not complicated.  When you enter, the road curves to the right (stays pavement).  If you go straight you will end up on gravel and down by the lake.

Follow the paved road until it dead ends.  The boy scout Camp Ground is at the very end, across the bridge.  You should have easy access to drive and park your car back there.  There is a shelter there.

=================================================================
Showers and Facilities

There are outdoor showers with hot water and bathroom facilities on site.  Bring your change of comfy clothes and shoes, and plan to hang out and wait for the last folks to finish their workouts.
