3. Race Day Instructions for parking, suggestions from RD, Spectators are in the park for the most part
Athletes and spectators will be asked to enter through Gate 3 at Jamesville Beach County Park. Vehicles will then be directed to park in the Jamesville Beach Park Event Field. The parking lots will open at 4:30 a.m.
For those athletes using a GPS to get around town, Jamesville Reservoirs’ address is 3992 Apulia Rd. Anyone traveling from the north on US RT 81 may reach the park via the Rock Cut Rd. exit and travel on RT 173, compared to traveling Jamesville Rd. to the Hamlet of Jamesville. Those
athletes joining us from the south may find it easier to use US RT 20 to Apulia Rd. to access the park. Beginning Friday, June 17, all race traffic must enter through Gate 3 at Jamesville Beach Park.
Vehicles are prohibited from parking along the course, including Westshore Manor Rd., and on Cook Farms Rd. Vehicles are asked to not park outside of the park gates. Any vehicle that parks in any of these prohibited locations will be towed. Once the race has begun, your family and friends coming to the event will have to use Southbound Apulia Rd. to access the park between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Spectators may view athletes at The DeRuyter General Store along the bike course. Spectators will have limited access to and from the park, between the times of 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. We ask that friends and family hoping to join the festivities arrive early. Apulia Rd. will be closed in the Hamlet of Jamesville starting at 7 a.m. and will not open until 12 p.m. Apulia Rd. will also be closed at Palidino Rd. (south of the reservoir) to all thru northbound traffic starting at 9 a.m. and will not reopen until 5 p.m

4. Saturday Team Timeline
Bring something to nibble on. Remember early 4:30 PM team dinner.
You may do whatever you choose, follow your own rituals – totally your call. If you would like to join in with the group, our plan will be to do the following. Keep in mind that our plans are fluid so be prepared to manage this process on your own should there be a reason to.
NO ATHLETE MEETING FOR YOU IF YOU CAN MAKE THE PRIVATE TEAM Z SESSION WITH THE RACE DIRECTOR
- Meet at Team Z Tents near the club area near the finish line. 8:30/9:00 Am.
- Bring Bikes, Swim/Run Gear
- I will watch your gear at the Team Z Tents.
- Hit packet pick up at 9 am.
- Pick up Packet – starts at 9 am. Photo Identification, USAT card to show proof of current USAT membership or $15 USD (cash only) to purchase a one-day license. If you are a USAT member and forget your card, you will be required to sign the USAT waiver and purchase a 15 USAT one-day license.
- Check in Ironman Club Tent inside Expo
- 10/10/10 brick (I watch your stuff) I am uncertain if you will be able to get in the water. There’s nothing specific on the schedule but this is a public park.
- 11 AM – 5 PM – Mandatory bike check in (take your gear from me after brick)
So – Summary. If you want my help, you have from 9 until noon to do…PPU, check in at club kiosk in expo, do a short brick, drop your bike at 11…then the meeting below at noon. Should work out well, one trip in. Bring something to nibble on. Remember early 4:30 PM team dinner.

5. Saturday: Noon, Race Director Meet and Greet.
Over the years we earn points at Ironman events. One of the things we’ve spent our points on is this opportunity to do a private athlete briefing with the race director. I’m not sure if any other clubs had points and reserved, but I think it is private just for us. This is a great chance for anyone to ask specifics about the course, tips, tricks – ask those nervous questions too. Obviously he knows the course really well, and he likes doing these club sessions.
This should be unique. No way in hell this would have happened with Ironman in 2004. They’ve really seemed to open their doors.
- What: Private/Team Z athlete briefing with Race Director
- Where: We will meet the Race Director at the “Point Tent” at Jamesville Beach
- When: Saturday, Noon
========================================================================
6. Saturday: Team Dinner at Grimaldis at 4:30 PM
- Where: Grimaldis
- When: 4:30 PM
- Address: 6430 Yorktown Cir, East Syracuse, NY 13057
- Website: grimaldislunapark.com

- Parking Lots Open, 5:30 AM. TA opens at 4:45 AM. Race Starts at 7 am.
- Team Z Bbcue Lunch at Team Z Tents until Race Ends (3:30, 4:00).
If anyone is coming/not racing, or has a family member who know their way around our trailer/grill…I would like to be able to take pictures and it would be helpful to have someone available to cook lunch for the family that are with us at our tents. Please let me know
I also need help cleaning up. Please plan to bring comfy/change of clothes/shoes etc. We should stay at the finish line as a team until everyone is home. Then with your help we can be cleaned up and out in no time. Thanks in advance!
