- Important Announcements and Reminders for this week
- DEADLINE FOR TEAM GEAR ORDER ”“ Midnight Tonight! Tri Top,Tri Shorts, Bike Jersey, Bike Shorts, Tri Suit, Men’s Bib Shorts ”“ get those orders in NOW. Patti can’t add any items after the order is submitted tomorrow because I she has asked Pearl Izumi to get the production expedited so your items will be here for in time for Kinetic. DETAILS FOR ORDERING AT BOTTOM OF THIS EMAIL.
- No spin at Lyon Village on Tuesday night due to Elections. The community center is a polling location.
- Don’t forget where to find our race discounts, as well as race/event plans for the year. Members.triteamz.com then Files Section ”“ Annual Planning Resources Folder. Keep these discounts in the family ”“ I will ask for reports and non-Zrs using our discount codes will be corrected by the race directors.
- Luray Triathlon and Swim Fest Luray”“ Price Increase is at Midnight. Entry for all events can be found here: http://luraytriathlon.com/. Remember ”“ Luray is one of our “biggest team events” each season. If you can make it, you want to participate! For those of you not going to 70.3 Syracuse this will be our group workouts for the weekend
- Swim Fest is a different event than the Luray Practice Swim. It has 3 different open water practice distances (for awards) and will be guarded well with safety boats/personnel, etc. You can swim one, two, or all three events 750 meters, 1500 meters, or 2250 meters (1 loop of sprint course, 2 loops ”“ international course, 3 loops ”“ 3 laps of same course). Total is 3 miles of swimming. Awards given in all three events. They are back to back to back. 8 am, 9 am, and 10 am.
- I have permission from the park to use the campground for free. You don’t have to stay overnight, you can come for one day, one event, both days ”“ your call. There are also hotels in town (5 minutes away).
- I have paid to rent a pavilion for the team. Obviously some type of food and grub provided for the team (call it social!). More details as the weekend approaches.
- Day of the swim, after awards, we will do a Brick on the Luray Triathlon Course. If you stay home (totally cool) the U.70.3 and 70.3 programs will have a run on Saturday, and Ride on Sunday. Ironman Lake Placid and Ironman Md people already have a brick scheduled for Saturday (or race Syracuse 70.3).
- Don’t forget that Colonies Zones Swim Meet is open for registration. This is a Friday night swim meet on April 8 held locally at George Mason University.
- You can choose the 1,000 freestyle or the 1,650. This a swim in the Pool event.
- We will all start from in water. No diving. No flip turns. Teammates count for you.
- Meet is reverse seeded so fast people go first (then go home). Then the last 3-4 heats (or more) are ALL Team Zrs. No pressure event ”“ I promise everyone always LOVES this event.
- Especially if you want to test yourself in a safe, familiar environment. You can rest on walls ”“ swim any stroke you like (freestyle literally means any style you want).

- High Level Overview of Events and Activities for this week
- Monday
- Morning boot camp in Arlington
- PM power runs in Arlington and Reston. A power run is simply a combo of boot camp (core strength) and running. Run for 10 minutes (around a track, or a circle ”“ we are all together ”“ your pace for running),then 10 minutes of core exercises (planks, etc) led by an instructor. Repeat.
- We have lunch time swims in Alexandria and the District
- Tuesday
- Morning swims in Annandale, Alexandria (South Arlington), Falls Church, Mclean/Tysons, and the District
- Lunchtime swims in Alexandria (South Arlington), and the District
- Evening swims in Annandale and Sterling
- Group spin morning workout in Merriefield, evening spins in Bethesda, Alexandria, and Sterling
- Wednesday
- Morning track practice Reston and Takoma Park
- Evening track practice in Bethesda and South Arlington
- Evening boot camps After evening Track Practices in Bethesda and South Arlington, then also in Reston (no track practice before)

Race season will be here before you know it. It’s time to start thinking about what Team Z race gear you need! New Zs ”“ not everyone races in the performance gear. Many people use the tri shorts but ride/run in the green running shirt. Remember ”“ these are things you can wear/use after you leave the team as well. So think of them as just a new set of workout clothes. Nothing is required, but I do honestly believe that at a minimum you will want to have the green shirt as well as maybe a hat or something. Everyone wants to feel a part of the team. J
It takes 8 weeks to get a jersey from a pre-order from Pearl Izumi. So if we submit today ”“ it will be here for Kinetic.

- Take a look at what items are in the sale section, you never know what you might find.
- To find out what Team Z race gear is in stock look in the performance gear section ”“ if the size you need is in stock it will display.
- If you look in the performance gear section and the size you need is not available then you will need to go to the Pre-order section and order the item.
Don’t know what size? This is very important:
* At Fast Track you will find a men’s and women’s Team Z fit kit. A fit kit contains every size available of the performance gear. This ensures you purchase or order the correct size. The main reason we pre-order is that we can’t afford to buy and stock inventory like a retail store. It would cost us several (many) thousands of dollars to stock 5-6 jerseys of each size for men and women. Then you have everything else!
- When you pre-order an item and it is not the correct size you want to return it and ask for a refund.
- This directly costs us the price of your jersey until someone else buys it.
- That refund does not come from Pearl Izummi ”“ it comes from our pocket.
- Please try your best to order the correct size. Ask your mentor, and haul tail to Fast Track (we will be there for clinics and things too).
- Let me know if you have questions AFTER you try on the gear.
Delivery of items purchased/ordered:
When you order an in-stock item you have two options for receiving the item. You can have it shipped to your address or you can pick it up at fast track.
Patti (wrote this email and manages our store) drops off orders at fast track once a week. When you are checking out and paying for your item you can select the option you prefer.
It takes 8 weeks for the pre-order to arrive once it is placed with Pearl Izumi. The plan is to submit the pre-order items by the end of February. GET YOUR ORDER IN NOW PLEASE! This will mean an early May arrival date. Pearl Izumi minimum order is 6. This means 6 men’s tri tops, 6 women’s tri shorts, 6 women’s bike jersey, etc. When the items arrive, we will let everyone know and run through the “mail” vs. “pickup” process.
Please take a look at the online store and order what you need. I will send out reminders before the end of February so you do not miss out.
