1. There is  run 2 HH tonight in Arlington, Reminder on Wed/Thurs recovery workout combo happy hour events

(Don’t forget we also have Wed PM run/hh at Vienna brewing company and in Bethesda at Rock Bottom, Thurs ride/hh at Dogfishhead)

Note from Debbie, the Workout Leader re tonight’s Run 2 HH:  If you’ve never done one before we will start at PRR Arlington at 6:30pm and then run flat/downhill to Nicecream Factory and Whitlow’s in Clarendon, have a happy hour and metro back up the hill to Ballston because running both ways would feel like work.

If you just want to meet us at the ice cream we should get there around 715 – 730.  If you just want to meet at the bar, feel free to get there early and make yourself known. There’s an inside section and a rooftop bar, so if you don’t see anyone familiar or in green, check the other location.  Personally, I’m most interested in the ice cream, but Whitlow’s will be the more traditional Happy Hour activities with half priced burgers and like alcohol and stuff.

Make sure to bring a way to get back to your car (feet, metrocard, uber app) and an ID and don’t plan to leave anything behind at the store

Monday Run 2 HH FAQ:

1. What? an occasional diversion from regular Monday night runs where I pick a destination and get us there
2. Why? Because I wanted ice cream?
3. How far? 2-4 miles
4. Are you lying about the hills like last time? No! I’m trying really hard to keep it flat to downhill this time with no bonus hills. I’ll save my hills for regular Monday runs 🙂

Note from Righteous Abe:  “Keri Hadley and I will be at Whitlows a little before 7pm to welcome you all to the HH portion of Run2HH. Unless it’s pouring, we’ll be on the rooftop terrace.  Since neither of us are Arlington residents, just look for the only two people not drinking Miller Lite or wearing flip flops, cargo shorts, and popped collars.

2. This week begins the 90 minute OPTIONAL swims for IM Lake Placid Prep – certain locations only

Each time we race an Ironman, about 4 weeks out we arrange for extra time in the pool to allow for a few extra yards for the people racing.  Here are the opportunities for people to get in longer than one hours swims.

  • Chinquapin – Tues/Thurs are standard at 6-7:15, this is not new.  A few extra minutes at the end would be all you need.  Make sure to get out of the pool, let the patrons pick thier lanes, then jump back in to join them for a few laps if you wish.
  • Providence – we will have the pool open at 5 am with 4 lanes onlly.  Normal practice is still 5:30-6:30 with all 10 lanes.
  • Spring Hill – coach is on deck at 5 am.  Normal swim is still 5:15 TO 6:15.  A few extra minutes will be found at the end, those of you remaining will squeeze into one lane and exit promptly at 6:25.
  • Old Keen Mill –  50 meter outdoor facility – Tues/Thurs swims are 5:30-7:00 AM standard
  • Claude Moore – Utilize open swim lanes from 7:30-8:00 PM. Join in swim practice from 8-9:00 PM.
  • UDC – Pool will be open at 5:30 AM with one lane.  Normal swim practice is 6-7:00 AM
  • Other pools:  Utilize open swim as available around your normal swim practice times.

3. Reminder about our Summer Old Keen Mill outdoor 50 meter pool swim practice option

We have a summer only facility that is available to us on our Tues/Thurs only pass as well as punch cards and those of you who hold “all swim” passes.

Old Keen Mill is a community owned 50 meter pool.  We rent the pool from them each summer from 5:30-7:00 AM.

  • Thursday rides from the Vienna Brewery are cancelled moving forwards.  Wed Recovery week runs and happy hours from Vienna Brewery remain.
  • This week’s Thursday Recovery Ride /Combo/ Happy Hour is going to be led by Marcia Insley.  Please post – we want to keep this puppy rolling but attendance is a key.  Details below.
  • Reminder – No Boot camps until after Williamsburg
