The weekend of 12/10 and 12/11 in Team Z

In this email:

Saturday Run Location and Clinic Location have changed due to conflicts with running in the city (two planned races that could upset our plans).

  1. Saturday Run will be from Vienna Caboose – 9 am.  8 am start for those running over 2 hours.
  2. I must leave and shut down the team run by 11:00 AM sharp (clinic at 11:30).  Plan accordingly please.
  3. Saturday Clinic will be at Coach Ed’s house at 11:30 AM – UNLESS the Caboose Brewery gives us permission to use a quiet space for the clinic.  As of now – we are at Coach Ed’s.  I will confirm when I hear from the brewery.  No news = Coach Ed’s at 11:30 on Saturday.

*Note that on Saturday after the run is a clinic on  Cycling Safety/Etiquette, and Cycling Technique Clinic. THERE ARE LIKELY 50 OF YOU WHO SHOULD ATTEND!  For example, if you don’t know what two fingers displayed on the back of the rider in front of you…you need to be here.  Don’t know the most dangerous obstacle on a trail or road when riding?  Come find out. Saturday Group Run: 0-16 miles, Vienna Caboose  at 9:00 AM (8:00 AM start for anyone running over 3 hours – target to finish around 11:00  at the very latest please)

  • When: Saturday, 9:00 AM or 8 am for anyone running over 2  hours.
  • Where:  Vienna Caboose
  • Cue Sheet/Mileage Markers: N/A
  • Long Runners: expect to do at least two out and backs to refuel at your cars.
  • I should have some coffee/possibly other a the finish of the run.

Saturday Clinic:  Cycling Etiquette and Safety, Intro to Technique at 11:30 AM @  Coach Ed’s

I will order food for us so please plan to have a change of clothes and come straight from the run.  I will also be prepared to discuss “how to dress to ride in the cold” after the clinic ends.  If you stay for everything – we could take about 90 minutes or more.

You can use my house/bathrooms to change if you come from the run.

  • When: Saturday at 11:30 AM
  • Where: Coach Ed’s
  • Bring:  Yourself, paper if you’d like to take notes.  This is a lecture and demonstration/presentation.
  • Please Vote to let me know if you are coming. Please vote to let me know if you would be willing to bring your bike/trainer/shoes.  Think of it as a private lesson!  We will do a demo to teach the basics on cycling technique.
  • **I need a volunteer for Saturday’s Clinic.  Newer the better, but anyone is welcome to volunteer.  If you have your own trainer, please bring it.  If you are new to cycling, but have clipless pedals and shoes – I can bring a trainer for you if you’d like to volunteer.  No need to be nervous – consider this a private lesson.

Sunday Group Ride: Davidsonville Park and Ride 9:00 AM.  Ride up to 1pm Max.  

Please, new folks – I’d LOVE to have a few of you join us. The newer the better!  Just reach out to me in advance if you are nervous for any reason (I mean that).

Ride Distances are up to 4 hours, please choose your cue sheet/mileage conservatively.

I will bring a sheet for Sag Driver Numbers and the  cue sheet we are using for the weekend.  However – both are posted in “this weekend’s cue sheet folder”. Reminder if you are new, I will bring hard copies of the cue sheets for everyone.  But you may want to print your own if you have trouble reading smaller print/font.

  • When:  Sunday, 9:00 AM start – 1:00 PM Hard Stop
  • Where: Davidsonville Park and Ride
