The weekend of 4/16 and 4/17 in Team Z

  • Reminder ”“ especially if Yahoo! Decides to print this email in your inbox In Greek or something:   You can always find this “what’s up this weekend in Team Z email” posted on members.triteamz.com and then click on “coach’s com”.   Or ”“ to our blog on the same site and hit the “weekend reminder category”.

*NOTE CHANGE FROM CULPEPPER TO CARROL MANOR ELEMENTARY FOR THE MOM AND LP RIDE ”“ 10:00 AM START (yes, 10:00 AM).   MoM and Lake Placid folks can also come to Davidsonville, of course.   You don’t have to ride “Ice Cream Social” to do well at your events.   Its hard climbing, and you may benefit from it ”“but its certainly not required to finish either race.   But if you go to Carroll Manor Elementary and ride “Ice Cream Social” ”“ you are warned of the difficulty and there will be no whining.   There will be no sag drivers, workout leaders, etc.   You will be 100% self sufficient.

* For the Davidsonville Ride – anyone who’d like to be in the “Back of pack” support groups for the workouts this weekend, let me know.   We have some people organizing and I’d be happy to get you in touch.   We’ll also hook up ride/run leaders to look out for you.   Email me!

  1. Saturday Group Run ”“ 8:00 AM from Columbia Island Marina

Beautiful Potomac side trail run (paved, it is the mount Vernon trail).     Flat as we can find without going to a track or Haines point!   Pay attention to the directions on this one too ”“ can be tricky.   Or it can be easy!   READ THE LOCATION NOTES ON OUR WEBSITE!   Accurate Google map LINK is “in the description” ”“ not what is displayed on the screen (which is National Airport).

  1. Sunday “Non Ice Cream Social but so not stupid hills” Group Ride ”“ 8:00 AM Davidsonville Park and Ride

(NOTE THE TEXT IN THE DIRECTIONS FOR THIS LOCATION ON OUR WEBSITE) ”“ or you will probably end up in a farmer’s field.

This ride is excellent for the beginner with a few shorter routes.   There are some challenging hills in places, but in general this is fun and faster ride (faster than most).   The short route is 23 miles.   But, any turn around point for an “out and back” can obviously shorten that if needed!

  • Ride Distances: 23, 28, 43, 51 (for Lake Placid People with 80, you will do the 51 and 28. The 51 is actually the 23 and 28 ”“ so you’d go 23, 28, 28.   The 51 cue sheet is a combo of the 23 and 28.

  1. Sunday “Ice Cream Social” UNSUPPORTED (or volunteer?) Group Ride ”“ 10:00 AM   from Carroll Manor Elementary School, Adamstown Md (must be experienced rider please)

While this ride was built mainly for people training for Mountains of Misery and Ironman Lake Placid, anyone who wants to challenge themselves and build leg strength is welcome.   But there will be no whining about how hard it is.   You have been warned!   There will be no sag drivers or leadership aside from a sign in sheet and cue sheets.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS: WARNING ”“ STEEP, difficult riding.   Experienced riders only for these distances.

Check out the ride notes Mark has put together (link to them on the website, as well at the bottom of this email). There will be no sag drivers or leadership aside from a sign in sheet and cue sheets.
