A. Important Announcement 2 – re: Workouts for Saturday and Sunday (changes)
- Saturday Update: Even though your personal training plan does not have this workout in it, if you are NOT racing this weekend – I would like you to do a 5k broken into 800’s with the team at Fort Hunt Park – Saturday at 9:30 AM. 2-3 minutes rest in-between. The effort level for strong runners is 5k race pace. Newer runners – Zone 4 (stay aerobic). Run/walkers – same thing. We do have run leaders coming for all speeds including run walk
- Sunday Update: We have only 12 people voting that they are planning to come to the boot camp and/or recovery ride on Sunday. We need 25 people to come for boot camp and group ride or we will give our instructors the day off on Sunday
- Sunday Update: Postponement of the Sunday Bike Maintenance (changing flats, etc) only had 3 votes. This clinic has been rescheduled for May 21, 11:45 AM at my house. This will be paired with Matt’s Heart Rate Training Clinic. We’ll do lunch and cocktails, make a day of it.

I will be leaving as early as I can on Friday in order to avoid traffic, and set up our little tiny village without being in a rush. I should be there by noon or 1 latest.
IF anyone wants to come down on Friday and swim, I highly suggest you only do this if you can leave before noon – one latest. The traffic south on Friday really sucks. If you find yourself trying to beat the clock – 29 might be another option depending on where you start from.
There is super shallow (waste or less) deep water off the peninsula that is a great chance to practice your swim. Totally up to you.
You can drive to the race site morning of – Packet Pickup ends at 8:30 so its not too early of a wake up but leave an extra hour just in case, for setting up, dealing with lines (port o pot too), grab a cup of coffee, relax with us, maybe jump in and swim a little bit.

This is a recovery ride. The intention is to ride for up to 2 hours (or less). You may choose to use the trail, however road cue sheets are available that tie into our Falls Church High School Rides.
We do have ride leaders and they are there to teach and ride with newer or nervous cyclists. Or even a mid range person that is looking to learn a specific skill. For the newest of riders ”“ if you would like the help JUST AKS and we will be with you 100% of the time and your ride will include learning about trail rules, safety discussions, and skills such as starting and stopping safely at stop signs (if you are nervous about falling over, etc ”“ this is perfect for you).
If you want help ”“ just hang back after the groups of riders are released and we’ll organize you into teams to head out with a ride leader. This is why we are here, so if you want to learn something LET US KNOW and we could possibly work a group around that skill and head out together (changing a flat, for example).
