The weekend of 5/28 and 5/29 in Team Z

*MoM people – we are still shy about 20 of you voting on the NEW and SECOND POLL that has dinner options/etc – please vote when you can to help us adapt our reservations/etc.

This post for local events is based on people who voted on the poll before 2 am on 5/26 – for decision making purposes.The idea behind some of our not normal procedures (late run start on Sunday, shorter but multiple ride loops on Saturday) is to support you the best we can while also taking our staff into consideration.  Of course late responders may join in, but this plan simply made based on existing poll results.

We have 25 riders, 14 swimmers, and 17 runners so far (locally).

In this email for Team Z Activities this weekend

  1. Look Ahead for events that happen early next week (no workouts on Monday, except Arlington Run and Happy Hour from PRR at 6:30 PM).
  2. Saturday Group ride – 7:30 AM from Poolesville High School
  3. Sunday  Reston Lake Swim –  check in 6 am start for all races.  1 mile start 8 am, 2 mile start 9:45 AM
  4. Sunday  group run from Reston Lake swim race site – 9:30 AM start (post run grub, and cheer for our 2 milers that are finishing the swim)

2.  Saturday Group Ride – 7:30  AM from  Poolesville High School (WATCH FOR THE SPEED CAMERAS – See location notes )

  • Please note the ride/cue sheets in play below this is not normal.

Bring a chair, bring a baby wipe and a change of clothes.  Be ready to hang out for while to support the 110’s as they come home.  We’ll coordinate the delivery of local grub as people finish.   Don’t be afraid to get out there on the course and cheer those guys home (6 of them).

This is a small group – so if you can plan it – please hang out.  I expect people to be finished round 1-2 pm.  So if you finish at 11 – you have some food, a beer, and shoot – before you know it everyone is done!

  • Ride  Assists/Buddies:  Donna, Theresa, Chad (may turn into sags as rides finish/as is needed/requested)

Where:

Read the location notes for google maps, hints regarding bathrooms, arrival, last minute supplies.

Scoop:

  • Ride  Distances: 20-110 miles.  110  will be  50, 40, 20 (in that order).  80 is the 40 x 2, 70 is the 50/20, 60 is the 40/20
  • EXPECT THERE TO BE SOME DISCUSSION AND CONSOLIDATION OF RIDES BASED ON WHO SHOWS UP AND WHICH GOALS EACH HAS.  We can’t cover 100 miles, we’ll need to compromise.  So some of you may have to do the 40.  Then a 10 out and 10 back to get 60 (just as an example).  This is a game time discussion.
  • Guided Ride:   Yes- Vote on the poll please.
  • Cue Sheets will be Poolesville in Reverse: Click on me or go to “this weekend updated cue sheets on the website”.
  • We will try to coordinate grub delivery as people finish – please bring a few $$ to contribute.

3. Sunday  6-12 am – Race at Lake Audobon

We will try to have a small tent and few chairs/etc.  Please bring your own chair and towel to sit on, etc.  We will also work to coordinate food post 2 mile swim (which should time well with post run)

  • We will start the run after the 1 mile swim, and many should finish by the 2 mile swim finish.
  • We will try to coordinate grub delivery, etc.  Bring a few $$ to contribute if interested.

4.  Sunday Group Run – 9:30 AM from Lake Audobon Race Site

We will try to have a small tent and few chairs/etc.  Please bring your own chair and towel to sit on, etc.  We will also work to coordinate food post 2 mile swim (which should time well with post run)

  • Run Start 9:30 AM
  • Bring a towel/chair for your butt and your gear.  Bring a few $$ for the grub if we pull it off just fine.

We are going to try the run start from the swim start due to the numbers of folks participating.   Back up start location is “Sunrise Valley Elementary” ”“ should there be any issue with hanging around at the lake (which I doubt).

  • One is an overview of the race site, and the run route. It is 1 mile exactly to the W&OD, it is 5 miles exactly to the Vienna Caboose.   At the 1 mile mark (intersection of Sunrise Valley and W&OD) ”“ there is Sunrise Valley Elementary School
  • Two ”“ for those who don’t have GPS and would like land marks ”“ this is a cue sheet from Sunrise Valley ES. Remember that you will already have run a mile to get to the school.
